My first question in this project was how I will correspond with a city because this shop faces directly into a street of the city. I considered that the eye looking up from below was important because the floor level of this shop was two meters high from the street. Therefore, I made the lower side of the transparent glass facade translucent and behind that reflect video images on another lower translucent screen with silkscreen printed logotypes. As people look up from the street they see layers of screen behind one another with video images floating in between the layers. I did not want a huge black glass screen to remain after the shop is closed. I imagined a result that will not be the same as ordinary showwindows; rather I imagined a showwindow that can give a pleasure for people wondering around the city at night. I wanted to create both a functional space out of minimum materials such as aluminum spandrel, mortar, the color white and to create an interior space that continues to the street and into the city.
